The Monthly Performance-Based Scoring Model
In traditional casual Sudoku, progress is measured purely by solitary puzzles completed on paper. In Multiplayer Sudoku, our global competitive ladder operates on a transparent, objective Monthly Score System. Rather than employing an opaque, artificial matchmaking rating that starts at an arbitrary number, our ranking system measures real deductive output, solving velocity, and accuracy under pressure.
Every newly registered player and guest begins each monthly cycle at exactly 0 points. There are no artificial placement tiers or inherited rating biases. Your rank on the global leaderboard is built brick by brick through every correctly deduced cell, every victory claimed against an online rival, and every daily challenge sprint completed.
How Points Are Earned and Calculated
Our scoring engine awards points directly from verified live board events according to clear mathematical rules:
- +50 Points for Every Correct Cell Placement: Each time you calculate and place a valid digit into an empty cell, 50 points are credited to your game score. Tackling more complex grids with 50+ empty cells naturally yields higher scoring opportunities.
- -20 Points Error Penalty & Strike: Entering an incorrect digit costs a -20 point penalty and immediately incurs a Strike. The scoring engine enforces a floor of 0 points so that match scores cannot become negative.
- The 3-Strike Disqualification Rule: To safeguard the integrity of the leaderboard from rapid guessing, any player who makes three mistakes in a single match is immediately eliminated. In a 1v1 multiplayer duel, a disqualification grants an instant victory to the opposing player.
- Match Victory Credit: Crossing the finish line first in a real-time 1v1 battle awards full match completion points, increments your profile's win counter, and pushes you up the global monthly leaderboard standings.
- Difficulty Multipliers: Puzzles generated at higher difficulty tiers feature higher multipliers on final time bonus points: Easy (1.00×), Medium (1.25×), Hard (1.50×), Expert (1.75×), and Master (2.00×).
Competitive Tier Breakdown
To celebrate solver milestones and provide clear progression targets, monthly accumulated scores are mapped into six competitive skill tiers. Climbing into higher tiers showcases your logical prowess and establishes your standing in the global community:

Monthly Competition Cycles & Season Resets
A static leaderboard where early adopters sit at the top forever quickly becomes stale. To keep the competition fresh, exciting, and welcoming to new players, Multiplayer Sudoku operates on monthly competition seasons:
- Monthly Reset at 00:00 UTC: At midnight UTC on the first day of every calendar month, monthly score standings reset to 0 points. Every participant receives an equal opportunity to compete for the gold, silver, and bronze podium badges.
- Permanent Career Archival: While the monthly race resets, your lifetime career profile remains untouched. Your total games played, career matches won, longest win streak, and all-time personal best solving times are permanently recorded in the database.
- The Live Podium: Throughout the month, the top three solvers on the global leaderboard are displayed prominently on the live podium at Global Leaderboard, complete with golden trophy accolades.
Leaderboard Integrity & Anti-Cheat Telemetry
Competitive puzzle solving is only meaningful when participants are confident that all scores are earned legitimately. Our backend architecture enforces automated validation protocols on every submitted move:
⚡ Neurological Timing Audits
Human perception, ocular saccades, and tactile key activation require physical time. Move submissions arriving faster than humanly possible (e.g. dozens of cells placed within milliseconds) are automatically flagged, discarded, and quarantined.
🔒 Server-Side Solution Security
Full board solutions are never sent to the client browser prior to match conclusion. When you enter a digit, the client queries the server-side validator, rendering browser extension DOM inspection and memory scraping completely ineffective.
